Dear Pepi,
Just a few words in haste. I hope you’re both well. My painting is, as ever, in peril. Things have taken a nasty turn – exacerbated by autumn doldrums – the autumn is dreadful. I’ve finished a number of paintings, despite everything – and in the meantime a card has arrived from Knossos; many thanks for that. You’ll be back soon I suppose. If not, my respectful compliments to Minos and Rhadamantes (orthography uncertain).
Sincerely,
Erich
