Dear Pepi,
Just a couple of words, a sign of life from my schlemielium jail. In spite of everything, the muse is working, despite dark clouds, failing eyesight and all manner of unspeakable things. My late style, the Grandpa Moses period, has begun. I couldn’t come to the German exhibition. The cultural attaché fell in love with one little painting, wants to buy it (but not for much).
I hope I’ll get an exhibition catalogue. The whole thing, so it seems, stood under an evil star.
It really is a miracle that one is still capable of receiving inspiration under the most awful of circumstances. Sadly the strength and eyesight to implement it is not quite sufficient, with nursing duties, with a dying cat, in a pigsty of a studio etc.
Forgive the lament.
Kind regards to you both.
Yours,
Erich
