Led by Nigel Warburton author of The Art Question and A Little History of Philosophy. This popular course explores the philosophical basis of our attempts to understand works of art. Over six weeks we consider themes such as form and concept and the artists' intentions against our own subjective responses and the materiality of an artwork. Visits to the galleries each week give us the opportunity to look at works of art in the Tate collection from a range of theoretical perspectives.
This course is open to all levels and experience of philosophy and art history.
