Willem Boshoff (born 1951) creates art that explores the labyrinth of language and meaning. His early works, KykAfrikaans 1977–80 and the 370-Day Project 1982–3 are landmarks of concrete poetry and conceptual art in South Africa. In a prolific career spanning more than three decades, he has written idiosyncratic dictionaries, made transient installations in sand and monumental works in stone and wood. Boshoff will talk about his long-standing fascination with the natural world and enduring interest in the forms of words and shape of language.
