This show brings together a wide range of twentieth century art works by artists working in a number of cities throughout Europe and the United States. It includes seminal works from some of the major art movements.
One of the earliest works featured here is from 1913 by the Italian Futurist, Giacomo Balla, and we end with a contemporary audio visual work by the American artist Tony Oursler. The diverse interpretations of urban life reflect the chaotic nature of cities themselves.
Walking through this show is something like the experience of travelling through a city. Whatever we feel about urban life it is probably true to say 'that to turn one's back on the city is tantamount to stepping outside of history'.
