invites you to be entertained and intellectually stimulated in the convivial surroundings of The Grand Saloon. To honour of the chronological re-arrangement of the collection, this Salon takes a lateral look at the concept of time. Theoretical physicist David Tong looks back to the birth of time, food historian Leonie Sooke looks at the early Modern period through the history of sugar, from which the fortunes of Henry Tate, the builder of the Gallery, were made. Finally, musician and vocal coach Juliet Russell takes up the present moment through the distinctive musical sounds of modern and postmodern times.
Since 2008 Salon London has curated cool culture, working with passionate experts from the worlds of arts, science and psychology, to bring their massive ideas in to intimate spaces. We take a lateral look at subjects, creating live site-specific Salons to stimulate, surprise and entertain.
