Meet The New Tate Britain at Late at Tate in June. Join us for an evening curated by young Londoners inspired by the new BP displays at Tate Britain. Explore time, influence, history and transition through art, music, fashion and performance.

The evening has been put together for Late at Tate by members of É«¿Ø´«Ã½ and Student Ambassadors from University of the Arts London Widening Participation Department.Ìý

fabric are incredibly proud to curate the music for the evening; with help from a selection of artists who have tackled the expansive theme of Chronology.

Alexander Nut B2B Josey Rebelle (Movements In Rhythm DJ set)
fabric have invited two of their favorite DJs to approach the theme literally, with Eglo Records boss Alexander Nut and Rinse FM’s Josey Rebelle traveling through a selection of music from the ‘60s right through to that of the present day.Ìý

Lee Gamble (Live)
As an artist who’s made a name for himself by reworking classic breakdowns from old jungle tape packs, the PAN signed Lee Gamble is fast becoming recognised as a master of musical re-appropriation. He will create a one off live set especially for the event, tackling the Chronology theme in his own precise and specialist way.Ìý

Craig Richards (DJ set)
As a resident at fabric since the club’s inception, Craig Richards, possesses a unique take on fabric’s own chronology, having played week in, week out for 13 years. fabric invites him to present a musical take on the future.Ìý

Fashion Show
Tate Britain and University of the Arts London have worked with over 40 young Londoners to explore works in the Tate Collection. Through research and design the young people have created garments and jewellery through investigating themes of time, influence, history and transition.Ìý

SUPERSWISH

Take part in an organised clothes swap SUPERSWISH by Mo Tomaney, Research Fellow in Ethics and the Clothing Industry at Central Saint Martins.Ìý

Leave your unwanted clothes, all clean and in good condition, with us in the Manton Studio in exchange for a swish ticket to keep hold of for the SWISHING which will follow. We welcome accessories such as bags, belts, scarves, hats and shawls and shoes all in good condition. Behind the scenes the SUPERSWISH team will be busy sorting and styling your clothes.

Doors will open for you to preview and exchange your ticket for any item you like on a first come, first served basis. Help yourself to what’s left in the Latecomers Bonanza from 21.00 (no ticket required). Surplus unwanted clothing will be donated to the clothing charity TRAID for up-cycling and a new lease of life.Ìý

INSTALLATION

Sound Art by Mark Peter Wright
London based artist Mark Peter Wright has created two original sound works in response to artwork in the new BP Displays.

Room 1970
In response to Susan Hiller's:ÌýDedicated to the Unknown Artists (1972-76), Wright has built a work titled 305 Seconds at Sea. The composition is built from 305, 1-second sound recordings of the sea. Assembling the fragments in non-sequential order, the piece disruptsÌýlinear notions of time.

Room 1990
In response to Damien Hirst's:ÌýThe Acquired Inability to Escape (1991).ÌýThe work, titled A Faint Glimmer, responds specifically to theÌý45mm gap that allows a passage of air between Hirst's cell structure. Composed entirely from recordings of air ventilation shafts in and around London, the piece echoes the cells themes of claustrophobia, surveillance and presence.

Projection by Clay

North Duveens
Witness a real time projection of imagery and light by Jae Huh at Clay who responds to the chronological arrangement of artworks throughout the galleries. Not only will it reveal the progress of time throughout the evening, it will also change in appearance and styling drawing from artist motifs, visual imagery and the architecture of the gallery.

Round Table: Representation in artÌý
Pull a chair up to the Round Table to discuss representation in art, hierarchy of power and whether art has brought about change? Paul Goodwin chairs the discussion throughout the evening with Megan Pickering from É«¿Ø´«Ã½ and special invited guests Dusty 0, Kimathi Donkor, Sara Shamsavari and Tracey Moberly.

Nailwraps: Influences by Phoebe Davies

Choose from a selection of Nailwraps by invited artist Phoebe Davies who has worked in collaboration with Student Ambassadors at University of the Arts London and É«¿Ø´«Ã½. Nailwraps: Influences is produced by Artsadmin and supported using public funding by Arts Council England and support in kind from WAH! Nails.

Appearance by BEST CITY FASHION
Turning serious on its head, BEST CITY FASHION trio of young 'celebrities' comment on selected works in the new BP displays. Liv Fontaine, Shy Charles and Ned Alderwick are known for their satirical take on the madness of the fashion world. Embrace their outlandish good humour laced with absurdity and wildness in response to selected artworks.Ìý
