Led by Laurence Van Der Noordaa, this tour will describe and explore the theme of Triptychs in the Tate collection.

A triptych are the three panels in a picture that can be attached together or presented adjoining each other.  Although traditionally applied to painting or relief-carved panels, the term has also been used refer to artworks in other media which are formed of three panels or screens, such as video.

This tour will explore the work of Victorian painter Augustus Leopold Egg, who's painting, known as Past and Present Nos.1–3 1858, is a triptych in the genre of narrative painting. 

And also two famous triptychs in the collection by Francis Bacon,ÌýTriptych - August 1972Ìý²¹²Ô»åÌýThree Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion c.1944 will also be described.

Seats and gallery stools will be available for this talk which will take place in the gallery with trained visual describers giving a detailed descriptions of the paintings.
