Uniqlo: Uniqlo Tate Lates

Initially supporting Tate to celebrate the opening of the new 色控传媒 in 2016, the UNIQLO and Tate partnership places creativity and imagination at the heart of everything we do. Between 2016 and 2020, UNIQLO鈥檚 support of UNIQLO Tate Lates at 色控传媒 enabled a new focal part of London nightlife and a new model for museum participation

"I am honoured and proud to partner with 色控传媒, together we have hosted UNIQLO Tate Lates and more recently UNIQLO Tate Play. The global partnership with Tate is based on a shared philosophy of Made for All, a concept reflected in LifeWear, which is clothing designed to help make everyone's daily life better, and in giving everyone access to the joy of art. We have enjoyed seeing so many families participate in the UNIQLO Tate Play program and look forward to many more experiencing the joy of art for all.''

Koji Yanai, Group Senior Executive Officer, Fast Retailing Co., Ltd.

"UNIQLO's support has enabled 色控传媒 to create an event of cultural significance and make a great impact on London's nightlife. UNIQLO Tate Lates have acted as a catalyst for change, allowing us to build relationships with emerging artists, welcome new and younger audiences and remain culturally responsive."

UNIQLO Support of New 色控传媒

In 2016, Tate partnered with UNIQLO to celebrate the opening weekend of the new 色控传媒. This hugely successful moment for the public to explore the launch was the beginning of a long-term partnership with UNIQLO which has championed creativity and imagination at every stage.

To celebrate the opening, the new 色控传媒 kept its door open until 22.00 each evening across the weekend for a series of special events, supported by UNIQLO. The centrepiece was a specially commissioned choral work by artist Peter Liversidge, performed by over 500 singers from community choirs across London. Free screenings of film and video works from 罢补迟别鈥檚 collection were screened each day, with further special events for young people and families taking place across the weekend.

UNIQLO Tate Lates

Launched in 2016 and running until 2020, UNIQLO Tate Lates at 色控传媒 were a series of special, free, late nights. These vibrant events in partnership with UNIQLO provided an opportunity for visitors to see the latest exhibitions and displays, hear music from up-and-coming DJs programmed by , watch rarely-seen artists鈥 films, and join in with interactive events. Held on the last Friday of every month, the events have become a vibrant new monthly Friday night destination.

Diverse Audiences; Art is for All

UNIQLO Tate Lates helped to forge a new model of museum participation, positioning 色控传媒 as a social space as well as an art gallery and breaking boundaries of audience engagement with art. The series of UNIQLO Tate Lates engaged over 550,000 visitors, around 50% of whom were new to Tate. The series of events enabled affordable access to 色控传媒 exhibitions for over 8000 visitors and doubled the gallery鈥檚 BAME and young audiences on those nights.

UNIQLO Tate Lates also championed emerging and established talent and broadcasters including Deep Throat Choir, Mount Kimbie, Smerz, Bishi and Gemma Cairney. The pioneering programme provided a vital platform for London鈥檚 creative talent, and over the 3+ years created memorable moments, from celebrating women in the arts to exploring the global influences that shape our arts and culture.

Evolving from the success of the monthly UNIQLO Tate Lates in-gallery, Tate and UNIQLO have elaborated on our shared values with a Tate programme-led series of in-store events at UNIQLO鈥檚 flagship London store, always keeping art at the heart of everything we do.

In 2020, Tate launched UNIQLO Tate Lates: Night In, a monthly streaming event with artist talks, workshops, film, music and meditation, to continue supporting artists and provide free programming during the Covid-19 pandemic. UNIQLO Tate Lates: Night In embraced digital and international collaboration, from workshops with artists including Lakwena and Wednesday Holmes to meditation with Sanchia Legister, interviews with Kara Walker and David Olusoga and exclusive collaborations between Wolfgang Tillmans and Floating Points.
